Gujarat Purohit Thali is quite a popular name in Surat. Started way back in 1986 by Mr. Rupjai Purohit, this restaurant caters to the vegetarian taste buds in the town. The restaurant is currently managed by his sons, Mr. Ashok Purohit and Mr. Amit Purohit.
It is the name, the legacy of offering pure and authentic vegetarian Gujarati food that has made this restaurant what it is today. Kadhi Khichdi is the most demanding cuisine over here. In an 18-member kitchen team, most of the chefs are associated with this restaurant from the time of its inception. One of such valuable gems of Gujarat Purohit Thali is Mr, Tabu Singh Rajpurohit.
Located just opposite to the railway station (100 m), Gujarat Purohit Thali is offering food services on trains since past 11 years. With such expertise in quality and delivery, the restaurant delivers on an average of 400 orders in a day.
“Most of our frequent customers are Jain travellers who prefer ordering food from us only, as we take special care of hygiene and preparations”, shares Mr. Amit Purohit.
शुद्ध शाकाहारी एवं स्वादिष्ट व्यंजनों का विश्वास
साल 1986 से गुजरात के सूरत में विशुद्ध शाकाहारी भोजन की सेवा उपलब्ध करा रहा ‘गुजरात पुरोहित थाली’ स्वाद एवं विश्वास का आदर्श नाम है। रूप सिंह पुरोहित द्वारा शुरू किए इस रेस्टोरेंट को आज उनके बेटे अमित एवं अशोक साथ मिलकर चला रहे है। जिनका मानना है कि लोग उनके रेस्टोरेंट के स्वादिष्ट खाने के अलावा इसलिए इससे जुड़े है क्योंकि आज भी यहां के खाने में वहीं अपनेपन का स्वाद बरकरार है जो उनके पिता के समय था।
वहीं रेस्टोरेंट से जुड़े एक अहम शख्स टाबू सिंह पुरोहित को भी वे इस रेस्टोरेंट की सफलता एवं मेहमानों को जोड़े रखने के लिए काफी अहम मानते है। टाबू सिंह के बारे में कहा जाता है कि वे आला दर्जे के रसोइए है जो 1986 के पहले से रूप सिंह के साथ कोई और व्यवसाय करते थे, मगर उनके बेहतरीन खाना बनाने के शौक ने उन्हें और रूप सिंह को खाने-खिलाने के काम से जोड़ दिया।
18 लोगों की किचन टीम एवं और लगभग दो दर्जन मेहमानों के बैठने का इंतजाम वाले इस रेस्टोरेंट में वैसे तो शाकाहारी व्यंजन की कई किस्में है लेकिन अमित पुरोहित के अनुसार रोजाना उनके यहां आने वाले 400-450 मेहमानों में से 300 यहां की फेमस कड़ी खिचड़ी ही खाने आते है।
सूरत रेलवे स्टेशन से मात्र 100 मीटर के फासले पर स्थित गुजरात पुरोहित थाली पिछले 11 बर्षो से रेलयात्रियों को भी अपने यहां के विशुद्ध शाकाहारी व्यंजनों का स्वाद परोस रहा है। इसके लिए यहां आठ लोगों की किचन टीम है जो हर महीने तकरीबन 400 रेलवे आर्डर डिलिवर करती है।
